In the Summer of 2008, we had the opportunity to market several exquisite items from a Warrenton estate to Metropolitian Auction Houses. After careful consideration, we chose Skinner Auctioneers and Appriasers in Boston, Mass. and Rago Arts and Auction Center outside of Trenton, NJ. Both of these Houses conduct Monthly and Quarterly Speciality Auctions and post their catalogs on LiveAuctioneer.Com for bidding. Skinner’s Discovery auctions offer something for every buyer and seller, every taste and budget. Held monthly, Discovery auctions include a broad selection of estate furnishings, decorative accessories, carpets & rugs, and artwork from the 18th – 20th century. The Aug 12th auction will offer whaling items from the Warrenton Howland Estate in four lots. Howland ancesters operated whaling businesses from the New Bedford and Boston, Mass area in the mid-to-late 1800's. Rago's handles decorative arts and furnishings, fine art, jewelry and art glass. In the September 26 auction, we consigned a beautiful signed Tiffany Studios Dome Desk Lamp with peacock colored feather painted original shade, also from the Howland Estate to their Art Glass Auction. This is an exciting step for Shumate Auctions, LLC which established a working relationship with two major auction houses on the East Coast. It is important, as an auctioneer, to always consider the best market for your client's property. Selling quick locally may not be in the best interest of the consignor and as the seller's agent, we want to offer the best experience to achieve the best result. |
